Haxby House – Our First Specialist Care Home in Wakefield
We’re pleased to introduce Haxby House — the first specialist residential service developed by Kinwood Care Limited. Located in Wakefield, Haxby House will soon be operational and is currently preparing for registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
This bespoke development consists of six single-occupancy, self-contained flats, each carefully designed using a psychologically informed model to support individuals with complex needs, including autism, mental health conditions, trauma histories, and behaviours that challenge.
Every flat at Haxby House includes:

Each flat includes a fully equipped kitchen, giving individuals the freedom to prepare meals in their own space.
Private Bathroom
A personal bathroom ensures privacy and supports independence in daily routines.
Dedicated Bedroom
Comfortable and secure, each flat offers a private bedroom tailored to personal needs.
Spacious Living Area
A separate living space provides room to relax, socialise, or enjoy quiet time.

Anti-ligature furnishings are installed throughout to reduce risk and create a safe, supportive environment for residents.
Each flat is carefully designed to minimise environmental triggers and help maintain a calming, low-stimulation atmosphere.
Therapeutic support is embedded into daily routines, ensuring consistent emotional and behavioural guidance is available.
On-site staff are trained in DBT and Humanistic approaches, offering compassionate, evidence-based support every day.
Full Renovation & Redevelopment
Haxby House is set to undergo a complete transformation, featuring the demolition and rebuild of the existing bungalow, along with a brand-new single-storey extension to the rear of the main property.
The main house will be reconfigured into five self-contained flats, each including:

- Kitchen
- Living room
- Dining area
The rebuilt bungalow will provide high-quality, single-occupancy accommodation.
Every flat will be finished to anti-ligature, anti-tear, and highly robust standards, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals with challenging behaviours. Our design focuses on the highest levels of safety without compromising on comfort, personalisation, and a warm, homely feel for every resident.
